Promaguard

Specifications

Promaguard from Soundown is a new concept in passive structural fire protection that uses microporous insulation technology. Thanks to its exclusive engineered mineral matrix, Promaguard provides IMO A ratings in extremely low thickness when compared to traditional fiber materials.

Promaguard has been designed to meet SOLAS, IMO, USCG, and MCA standards for passive fire protection. Promaguard is the solution for all insulating and fire protection systems for bulkheads and decks on aluminum, GRP, and steel structures requiring both extremely lightweight and thin insulation.

Promaguard's ability to provide an A60 rating in as little as 20mm (3/4") makes it an ideal choice for areas where traditional structural fire protection solutions affect the usability of a space. Critical areas that often require the thinnest possible structural fire protection are stairwells, overheads, and companionways.

Typical thickness requirements for A60 ratings:

Steel: 20mm

Aluminum: 20mm

GRP: as low as 40mm, depending on laminate

Promaguard is easy to install and requires no special tools. The stitched blankets are easily formed around beams and other structures.
